This study examines the impact of the merger between Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. and ING Vysya Bank Ltd. on the market capitalization of the acquiring bank. The study aims to evaluate whether the merger contributed to enhancing shareholder value and overall market performance by comparing the pre-merger and post-merger periods. Secondary data were collected from the annual reports of Kotak Mahindra Bank, Money control, NSE, and other reliable financial sources. Comparative analysis, descriptive statistics, and an Independent Samples t-test were used to analyse changes in market capitalization before and after the merger. The findings indicate a notable improvement in market capitalization during the post-merger period, reflecting a positive market response to the merger. The study concludes that the merger strengthened the market position of Kotak Mahindra Bank and contributed to long-term shareholder value creation
