Abstract

Asset redeployment has emerged as an important corporate strategy that enables organizations to improve operational efficiency, optimize resource utilization, and strengthen their competitive position through mergers and acquisitions. This study examines asset redeployment as a corporate strategy with special reference to Torrent Pharmaceuticals Limited and its acquisition of Unichem Laboratories' domestic formulations business. The study aims to evaluate how the strategic redeployment of acquired assets has contributed to the company's financial and operational performance. It also explores the role of asset integration in enhancing productivity, expanding market presence, and creating long-term shareholder value. The research is based on secondary data collected from annual reports, company publications, stock exchange filings, and other reliable sources. Financial indicators are analysed for the pre- and post-acquisition periods to assess the effectiveness of the acquisition strategy. Descriptive statistical techniques and paired sample t-tests are employed to examine significant changes in performance after the acquisition. The findings are expected to demonstrate that effective asset redeployment improves operational efficiency, strengthens market competitiveness, and supports sustainable business growth. The study contributes to the literature on corporate restructuring by highlighting the strategic importance of asset redeployment in the pharmaceutical industry. It also provides useful insights for managers, investors, policymakers, and researchers interested in mergers and acquisitions and corporate strategy.
